On Saturday 3 June 2017, we held our presentation events at Marden Residents Association for the junior and youth team sections (including U21’s).
I would like to congratulate all the teams on what has been another great season for the Club, and also to those who were selected for individual awards.
Two very special awards were also presented on the day.
The regional Billy Bell Memorial Trophy 2017, was awarded to John Barnfather (Club Secretary), by Barry Hindsin (BBC Radio Newcastle) and Bill Gibson (Gateshead FC), for his outstanding services to the development of junior football in the North East region.
Cullercoats FC Clubman Trophy 2017, was also awarded by Graeme Scott (Club coach and serving paramedic) to Leighton Alexander (Cullercoats U14’s player), who suffered life threatening injuries following an accident in August 2016, but went on to make a remarkable recovery to actually play the final few games of the season.
Leighton owes his life to the staff of the Great North Ambulance Service who attended to him on the day and everyone involved with the Club were delighted to see him receive this award.
