Cullercoats Football Club regret to announce that we have advised the Northern Alliance of our intention to withdraw our senior team from the Premier Division.
Following the departure of our senior team manager, Richie Mitchell (read more here), the Management Committee has reviewed the situation and feel it is in the best interests of the entire club to consolidate the men’s senior section into a single team in the Northern Alliance second division. We believe the decision to continue on at a lower level will give the club the best opportunity to regroup and have a strong future, after a season in which both our senior and reserve sides have struggled.
The current Reserve side, managed by Craig Williamson, will continue into the 22/23 season as the club’s single senior side. We hope this decision will bring stability to the senior section which has suffered a long period of uncertainty since the COVID-19 pandemic.
We are now looking forward to the season ahead, with pre-season training beginning Monday, June 13th, and our first pre-season friendly away to Wallsend Boys Club U23s on Saturday, July 2nd.
